How blackjack works: the basic rules you need to know

The goal of blackjack is straightforward: get as close to 21 as possible without going over, and beat the dealer's score. Cards 2 through 10 are worth their face value, face cards (J, Q, K) are worth 10, and the Ace counts as 1 or 11 — whichever works best for your hand.

A hand with an Ace plus any 10-value card dealt on the initial deal is called a Natural Blackjack and pays 3:2 (meaning a bet of R$ 100.00 returns R$ 250.00 including the amount wagered). If the dealer also has blackjack, the round ends in a tie and your bet is returned.

Hit

Request an additional card to increase your hand's total. You can hit as many times as you like, but going over 21 is a bust and you lose automatically.

Stand

Stand with your current cards and wait for the dealer to reveal the face-down card and complete their hand, which must draw until reaching 17 or more.

Double Down

Double your bet in exchange for receiving exactly one additional card. The most profitable option when your hand totals 10 or 11 and the dealer shows a weak card.

Split a Pair
